Ann Margareth Licharew

professionally known as Nunu Jean, develops, produces, and directs documentary films about leading figures in music, culture, and entertainment across the globe. Her director-led production studio, NUNU FILMS LLC, produces work in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, and is on track to become the preferred documentary production house for Hip-Hop and R&B artists, global figures, and leading cultural organizations within the next decade. Her films, like Anthem-Award winning The Little War (2023), which explored the consequences of beach privatization in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, Pieces of a Legacy (2023), which honored the first Black female mayor of Durham, and Hip-Hop’s Unknown Connection to College Radio (2025), which showcased how college radio stations like Duke’s WXDU Street Flava Mixshow amplified Southern Hip-Hop, all celebrated individuals who had the courage to push their communities forward and who inspired sizable audiences to become bigger than they can imagine.

Nunu holds a B.A. in Video Journalism from UNC Chapel Hill and is a 2023 Salzburg Global Fellow alongside prominent fellows like Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Hillary Clinton, and Makaziwe Mandela. Her debut feature documentary, Aruanda: Afro-Brazilian Culture in Brazil’s First Capital, was filmed in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil with support from the U.S. Fulbright Program. The project is currently in post-production and is set to be released in 2027.
